Starting a Website

Starting a website? You may find it easer than you think. But then again, fruit of easy labor doesn’t really go past mediocre. So what do you exactly need to do to start a website that can really make an impact?

Before you go choosing your HTML editing software, you have to go through the basics first—every project starts from the core foundations. Starting a website is no exception.

Consider the reason why you are starting a website as this will dictate a lot of things, like the feel of the web design. An underlying motif that exudes professionalism works best for professional websites. A friendly and persuasive mood works best for marketing sites. To be able to achieve any such effect, the colors, design, fonts used (even the spacing of the fonts), images and sounds used all need to be in line with the objective of the website—what it’s for.

Now that you’ve got that down, the choice of HTML editing software is mostly one of convenience or personal preference. Keep in mind though that drag-and-drop HTML editing programs that make it far too easy to add all those flashy elements might backfire. Keeping it simple still works best. You can still make an impact without annoying your visitors with too much flashiness. Keep things ergonomical: lessen the distance a visitor would need to move his mouse through by clumping navigational tools together..... keep to a three level tiered concept for your site.

Segregate particular content and especially monetization tools. Have ‘home’ links in each and every page of your site preferably at the top of each page. This is to make sure that your visitors have the option of getting straight back to the site’s main landing or home page whenever they get lost in it. Putting it at the top avoids having them scroll down just to get to the link (the ‘back to top’ intra-page link works pretty much the same way, but on the same page).

The best and easiest way to start a website is through the Site Build It! program... I have written a complete Site Build It Review based on my own experience with the web site building program.
